About Us
Ticonderoga Advisory exists to help organizations get more out of their people — and help people get more out of their work.
We do that through executive coaching, leadership and management training, learning design, talent advisory, and executive search. The thread running through all of it is the same: we work at the organizational level and the human level simultaneously, because in our experience you can’t meaningfully improve one without understanding the other.
Jake Tuber, Managing Principal
Dr. Jake Tuber is the Managing Principal of Ticonderoga Advisory and an adjunct professor of psychology at the City University of New York. Recognized by the Leadership Center for Excellence as one of the 40 Under 40 in Leadership, he has coached and developed leaders across a broad range of organizations, including The New York Times, Google, JP Morgan, Disney, the NBA, Unilever, Omnicom, Reyes Holdings, PGH, and over a dozen AmLaw 100 firms, among many others.
His work spans contexts most coaches never see. He has trained over 250 partners at top professional services firms, serves as an on-court communication coach for NBA referees, and works with high-profile executives and public figures across industries who need a trusted advisor outside their usual chain of counsel.
Before founding Ticonderoga Advisory, Jake served as full-time faculty at CEB (now Gartner) Leadership Academies and as a Senior Executive Advisor for CEB Talent Management, where he managed a global team of I/O psychologists developing psychometric-based assessment and development solutions for Fortune 500 organizations.
He holds a doctorate in Adult Learning & Leadership and a master’s in Social-Organizational Psychology, both from Columbia University, and a bachelor’s in Philosophy from Georgetown. A renowned speaker with a background in stand-up and improv comedy, Jake is a speaker in residence for Lectures on Tap. Outside of work, he is an avid runner and works with professional and elite amateur runners.

Who We Work With
What People Are Saying
“When I first started talking with Jake my obstacles at work seemed insurmountable: A growing team, a non-stop culture, a level of intense public scrutiny, and vicious deadlines overwhelmed me. Together we made concrete plans for the now and for the future. Jake is a true executive coach; no matter how many times I’d beg him to just tell me what to do, he’d never take the wheel and instead he equipped me to do the hard work and solve problems myself. With those skills in hand, I now coach my team in the same way. Thanks to his guidance and approach to coaching, I feel equipped to handle the challenges that will come in the future.”
— Theo Balcomb, Co-Creator ‘The Daily’
"I feel so lucky to have Jake and this team in my orbit. Ticonderoga has been a steady thought partner on program design and a trusted confidant in discussing organizational challenges. Our organization is deeply appreciative of Ticonderoga’s pragmatic, personalized and flexible approach, and looking forward to continued partnership."
— Di Keith, Talent & Learning Lead, NBA
“Ticonderoga is our secret weapon. Jake has helped my professional and personal development in too many ways to count.”
— David Zaitz, CEO, PGH
"Jake is a phenomenal coach. He sees both the big picture and the granular workings of a team, which means he can diagnose—and help solve —problems big and small. His blend of empathy with a side of tough love was extremely effective as I built my team at The Times.”
— Lori Leibovich, Editor of Well, The New York Times
"I have collaborated with Ticonderoga on multiple occasions over the last several years in support of the Special Olympics Leadership Academy, and their work has always been outstanding. I highly recommend Ticonderoga to anyone who appreciates a personalized approach rather than a cookie-cutter training program/consultation."
— Olga Yakimakho, Director of Leadership & Organizational Development, Special Olympics International
"Jake is always the cheerful, smart, resourceful coach; a phone-a-friend who helps me with difficult conversations, hard decisions, and more. I couldn't recommend working with him enough.”
— Isabel Wilkinson, CEO, Attersee
“Ticonderoga offer more than standard personality assessments. They pair their knowledge of the business and the requirements of the position to ask into detailed, yet non-intrusive, questions during the interview process to create a more holistic view of the candidate, highlighting the behavioral traits that are likely to influence the way they respond to pressure or lead their teams, etc. We appreciate the partnership and look forward to working on many more search assignments in the future.”
— Rachel Quinn, Managing Partner, 3PPartners
"I had the opportunity to attend one of Ticonderoga’s Extreme Presentation workshops... Even though I am a seasoned professional, the content made me really stop and look at how I deliver presentations. As a result, I communicate in a more narrative way and think completely differently about visuals. I highly recommend it - even to those who have worked on their presentations skills before.”
— Tatiana Goldberg, Senior HR Director, Unilever
